Dear Branch Members, The Improvisation Council is in the process of updating the Improvisation section of the State MTAC website.  This information is currently available for you to view at the Kern branch website here:  http://www.mtackern.com/id18.html Some things to consider this year: 1.  The Improvisation Evaluation deadline has been changed to February 15.  Students send in a recorded improvisation and receive a written evaluation.  On the Evaluation Application form, students may opt to be considered to perform their improvisation in an Improvisation Recital at the 2010 State Convention. 2.  The new Improvisation Assignments for 2009/2010 are now available online.  These assignments, along with the assignments from previous years are great resources for teaching improvisation in your studio. 3.  Students can do a short optional improvisation as part of their CM evaluation.  Information is available online. The Improvisation Council would like to encourage all teachers to teach improvisation in their music studios.  Whether you are just beginning to teach improvisation or have taught it for several years, there are many resources available through MTAC for you to use with your students.
